MADDY: Hiking’s my one escape from my busy work life. I just love being able to go outside, be in nature, and enjoy some time away from the office.

I’ve struggled with eczema my entire life and my itch and rash made it really difficult for me to enjoy hiking because I was always looking at my skin, I really wasn’t looking at the scenery very much.

My name is Maddy and I have moderate to severe eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis.

MATT: My name is Matt, and I am Maddy’s boyfriend.

When we were hiking I could tell she was constantly thinking about her itch and rash.

MADDY: My itch felt like pins and needles, very bone-deep.

My rash was stinging, burning, and itchy especially.

A few days after starting RINVOQ, I really noticed the itch was down for the first time in what felt like months.

MATT: One of the things that impacted her on a day-to-day basis was just her constant attention to her skin.

MADDY: I was always rushing off to get lotion or taking a cold shower or just doing anything I could to relieve that itch.

MATT: It’s frustrating for me because she has to go through this difficult time and there’s nothing I can do about it. It’s been a challenging uphill battle for her.

MADDY: I remember, I think you said to me, Maddy, it looks like it’s getting worse. Maybe we should get some help for this.

I’ve seen a lot of doctors for my eczema.

My current dermatologist, I love how she listens to me.

She recommended I try a treatment called RINVOQ.

By those first few days, I was like, wow, I didn’t wake up once from the itch. I really felt some relief.

I’ve been on RINVOQ since August 2022.

Since my itch and rash have gotten better, we can just enjoy and get outside, get some exercise and relax together.

MATT: I’ve only seen a small glimpse of her struggle throughout this process, and seeing her able to get that relief was great to see.

MADDY: It can be a really long road. Your treatment is out there and keep fighting and keep working towards it.

I hope everybody can feel the same way that I do.

I'm hoping people will talk to their doctor and ask about RINVOQ.
