Not a steroid. Not an infusion. Not an injection.

GET TO KNOW RINVOQ

(upadacitinib)

RINVOQ is used to treat adults with giant cell arteritis (GCA).

RINVOQ is a once-daily pill to treat giant cell arteritis

With GCA, your overactive immune system causes inflammation in your arteries, primarily in the neck and head. RINVOQ is a JAK (Janus kinase) inhibitor—it works within your cells to regulate your immune system by blocking certain signals that are thought to cause inflammation.

Steroids for GCA

Steroids suppress the whole immune system to decrease immune activity and to stop GCA symptoms.

RINVOQ for GCA

RINVOQ targets JAK proteins within your cells in order to reduce the inflammation that can lead to GCA symptoms.

Because JAK inhibitors, including RINVOQ, affect the immune system, they can lower the ability to fight infections and may cause other serious side effects. It’s important to talk to your healthcare provider about the possible side effects of prescription treatments. Learn more >

RINVOQ can help control inflammation after stopping steroids

When treating GCA, your rheumatologist will aim to lower steroid use over time to avoid long-term complications. In fact, in a clinical trial, RINVOQ helped most people taper off steroids in 26 weeks compared to 52 weeks for people on steroids alone.

How to take RINVOQ
