RESOURCES

Not an actual patient.

For adults and children 12+ years with moderate to severe eczema (atopic dermatitis) that did not respond to previous treatment and their eczema is not well controlled using other pills or injections, including biologics, or the use of other pills or injections is not recommended.

RINVOQ/RINVOQ LQ is approved in children 2+ years with active pJIA and in children 2 to less than 18 years with active psoriatic arthritis when TNF blockers did not work well or could not be tolerated. RINVOQ LQ is not the same as RINVOQ tablets. Do not switch between RINVOQ LQ and RINVOQ tablets unless the change has been made by your healthcare provider.

Caregivers,
you’ve got this

Caring for a child with a chronic (ongoing) condition presents unique challenges. As a caregiver, you wear many hats. You make sure your child takes their medicine, keep track of their symptoms, and support them in school and social situations.

Use the information and resources on this page as a companion and lasting resource for you and your child whenever you have questions or need assistance.

Your child should always take their medication exactly as prescribed by their doctor

RINVOQ once-daily pill

Children with active polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (pJIA) or juvenile psoriatic arthritis (JPsA) weighing greater than 66 pounds (33 kg) may be prescribed either RINVOQ LQ oral solution or RINVOQ tablets.

Children 12+ with moderate to severe eczema are prescribed RINVOQ tablets.

Give a RINVOQ pill once daily, with or without food. Avoid food or drink containing grapefruit

Do not split, crush, or chew the tablets

Store RINVOQ tablets out of child’s reach at 36ºF to 77ºF (2ºC to 25ºC) in the original bottle in order to protect them from moisture

Call your child's healthcare provider if you see medication residue (a whole tablet or tablet pieces) in their stool.

RINVOQ LQ twice-daily oral solution

Children with pJIA or JPsA weighing at least 22 pounds (10 kg) may be prescribed RINVOQ LQ oral solution.

RINVOQ LQ is only approved for use for children 2+ with pJIA or JPsA.

Give RINVOQ LQ oral solution twice daily, with or without food. Avoid food or drink containing grapefruit

Administer RINVOQ LQ using the provided press-in bottle adapter and oral dosing syringe

Do not dilute or mix the oral solution

Store RINVOQ LQ out of child’s reach at 36ºF to 86ºF (2ºC to 30ºC) in the original bottle

RINVOQ LQ oral solution is not interchangeable or substitutable with RINVOQ tablets. Changes between RINVOQ LQ oral solution and RINVOQ tablets should be made by the healthcare provider.

Giving your child RINVOQ LQ (oral solution)

RINVOQ LQ is given as a twice-daily oral solution for use for children 2+ with pJIA or JPsA. Reach out to your child’s doctor if you have any questions. Refer to the Instructions for Use on how to prepare the RINVOQ LQ bottle with the press-in bottle adapter.

What is the most important information I should know about RINVOQ*?

RINVOQ may cause serious side effects, including:

  • Serious infections. RINVOQ can lower your ability to fight infections. Serious infections have happened while taking RINVOQ, including tuberculosis (TB) and infections caused by bacteria, fungi, or viruses that can spread throughout the body. Some people have died from these infections. Your healthcare provider (HCP) should test you for TB before starting RINVOQ and check you closely for signs and symptoms of TB during treatment with RINVOQ. You should not start taking RINVOQ if you have any kind of infection unless your HCP tells you it is okay. If you get a serious infection, your HCP may stop your treatment until your infection is controlled. You may be at higher risk of developing shingles (herpes zoster).

Current or past smokers are at higher risk of certain cancers, including lymphoma and lung cancer. Follow your HCP's advice about having your skin checked for skin cancer during treatment with RINVOQ. Limit the amount of time you spend in sunlight. Wear protective clothing when you are in the sun and use sunscreen.

As your child grows

Older children and teenagers may want to take more responsibility for their condition and care. Remember, each child is different, and will be ready for different responsibilities at different times.

Here are some tips to help your child when they are ready:

  • Take a step back at doctor’s visits
  • Prepare them for the transition and set expectations
  • Teach them why, when, and how they should take their medication, and what it’s doing
  • Encourage them to take an active role and engage in medical decisions
  • Put them in charge of their medications, if appropriate
  • Have them schedule their appointments

How can I get my child used to taking RINVOQ tablets?

If your child is not used to taking tablets or is unable to swallow the full RINVOQ tablet, here are some tips that may help:

  • Do not split, crush or chew the tablets
  • Standing up is the best position for swallowing; sitting down is OK as long as your child sits up straight
  • Practice pill swallowing with cookie decorations, small candies, or sprinkles. Use candy that dissolves easily to prevent risk of choking
