For adults with active non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis with objective signs of inflammation in whom a TNF blocker did not work well.
Nr-axSpA is a chronic (ongoing), inflammatory condition. Once someone has nr-axSpA, they may always have it. Although the causes of nr-axSpA are unknown, it's possible that environment, different stressors, and family history may play a role. Nr-axSpA can be passed down through the HLA-B27 gene. Taking a blood test may detect this protein and help make a diagnosis.
Back of body
Nr-axSpA is a chronic inflammatory condition that primarily affects the spine. It can lead to inflammation that may cause back pain and stiffness.
Inflammation is your body’s normal response to protect against something your immune system thinks will cause harm. When excess inflammation caused by your immune system doesn’t go away, it can lead to conditions like nr-axSpA.
How the immune system triggers inflammation
It is believed that the immune system sends white blood cells to the joints of your spine, causing inflammation. When inflammation doesn’t go away, it can lead to symptoms including:
Here are some steps you can take to help you manage your nr-axSpA symptoms.
It's important to remember that nr-axSpA is a chronic, or ongoing, condition. Taking RINVOQ as prescribed is important as nr-axSpA can persist even though you don't have symptoms.
RINVOQ must be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor
Call your healthcare provider if you see medication residue (a whole tablet or tablet pieces) in your stool.
What should you do if you miss a dose?
Check in with the doctor
Regular check-ins and open discussions with the doctor can help you stay on track with a prescribed treatment plan.
Track symptoms
Use the RINVOQ Complete App to keep track of symptoms and share them with your doctor.
With nr-axSpA, your overactive immune system mainly attacks your spine and may cause inflammation that contributes to back pain and stiffness. RINVOQ works to help regulate your overactive immune system and can help reduce the inflammation that contributes to nr-axSpA symptoms.
Because JAK inhibitors, including RINVOQ, affect the immune system, they can lower the ability to fight infections and may cause other serious side effects. It's important to talk to your healthcare provider about the possible side effects of prescription treatments.
