How RINVOQ works—know the science

RINVOQ is a once-daily pill that treats adults with moderate to severe ulcerative colitis (UC) when TNF blockers did not work well, or after a different injection or pill (systemic therapy) when TNF blockers are not recommended by your healthcare provider.

RINVOQ works with your body to reduce the inflammation that can lead to UC symptoms.

The amount of inflammation you have is controlled by many different proteins that are found naturally within your body. RINVOQ blocks the activity of some of those proteins, known as Janus kinase (JAK), to help reduce inflammation.

Because JAK inhibitors, including RINVOQ, affect the immune system, they can lower the ability to fight infections and may cause other serious side effects. It’s important to talk to your healthcare provider about the possible side effects of prescription treatments. Learn more about side effects of RINVOQ.
